Today’s WordPress Prompt is “What is the longest trip you’ve ever taken?”
My longest trips have been my vacations to New Hampshire to visit my grandparents, usually lasting 10-12 days. Whether it was spotting right whales on a boat or taking a train up Mount Washington, I have always had a great time.
An especially memorable moment is when I tried sushi for the first time as a kid. It was after a 12-hour car ride and I was feeling carsick and tired. My dad convinced me to try a generous dollop of wasabi sauce with it.
Instant regret. My mouth was on fire. My grandmother got me a drink quick – juice. Let me tell you, the combination of raspberry juice, raw fish, and wasabi is not pleasant.
It is a wonder sushi is now one of my favorite foods, and that I still use a small amount of wasabi when I have it.
One time I was there I was having intense tooth pain in the back of my mouth. It seemed that my wisdom teeth were pushing against my gums and other teeth. It was so painful that I gave in and chose to have them out while on vacation, an experience my grandmother called an adventure. I expected my mouth to hurt after the wisdom teeth surgery, but I was actually much more comfortable, so it seemed like the right choice.
It’s always nice to visit my grandparents there, and we often go to beaches, Star Island, fun restaurants, and more. My family has a lot of board gamers in it so we often play games as well.
What about you? What have been your longest trips?
