If you saw my thoughts, you would know I was thinking of you

You would know how much you have meant to me.

and if you saw what I was thinking when we first met

you would know that my mind was far away

If my thoughts began to wander away from you

You would follow from an unrelated thought

If I fell in love too soon

You would fall in love just as quickly

Oh if I was worn out with tests and homework

You would send me a text, and if my heart was heavy

You would take my hand and listen to my fears, you would put

Out an arm to hug me and bring me out of my sorrow

If you heard me struggling to remember a phrase

You would know to wait patiently because I would get it eventually

and if you saw me tethered to my shyness

you would help me break the chain by introducing me

and if you saw me practicing writing

You would know that I was afraid to let you see it but would anyway

If I rushed down a dark train of thought losing myself

if I left off being me—if I forgot what it all meant

you would know exactly how to bring me back

before I went too far and lost it all
